On September 20th, the Newport County Community Mental Health Center held its first Bike-A-Thon to raise much-needed funds and to raise awareness of the mental health services and programs that are provided to people living and working in Newport County.

The weather was superb, the scenery was breathtaking, and the riders were in good form.  So, the event was a wonderful success.

We were most fortunate to have a great cadre of volunteers from the Board of Directors and Staff and family members, with a special note of appreciation going to our hard-working Committee Co-Chairs, David Kelly and Sandra Oxx.  Special recognition goes to our major sponsors--Bank Newport, Jewelry Concepts, the Newport Tent Company, and Hallman Septic Services and to our friends in government--the municipalities of Newport, Middletown, and Portsmouth for helping us.

It was truly a marvelous opportunity to advance the principles of "A Healthy Mind and a Healthy Body."  Our community came through, displaying compassion, understanding, and financial support.
